Project Summary

Retroflo were engaged by RGA Water to undertake the design and installation of a new potable water booster set for Equinor at the Port of Tyne. The booster set replenishes potable water stores onboard offshore support vessels whilst docked at the port. The primary purpose of the storage tank is to provide a suitable air gap to eliminate the risk of back pressure or back siphonage in compliance with UK Water Supply (Fittings) Regulations 1999 and the specific requirements of the local water authority officer. The pump requirements are to deliver 72 m³/hr at the Highest Astronomical Tide, enabling vessel replenishment within four hours.

Scope of Works

Retroflo provided a full end-to-end service, including:

  • Supply and installation of GRP kiosk complete with lighting
  • Supply and installation of sectional water storage tank with Type AB air gap
  • Design and supply of duty/standby pump set with stainless steel headers
  • Supply and installation of flow and pressure instruments and control panel to provide constant flow to offshore support vessels at all states of the tide
  • Mechanical and electrical design
  • Mechanical and electrical installation

Results

  • 100% compliant potable water booster system

  • 72 m³/hr capacity for fast vessel replenishment

  • Smart control & monitoring for reliable performance

  • Secure turnkey delivery, completed on time
